The changing behaviour of pet owners with respect to their animals is driving growth in the market for pet food and related products and services.

The pet food and pet care markets have undergone significant changes over the past few years.

Pets play an increasingly important role for consumers in a resolutely forward-looking society that is all too often disconnected from nature.

It was not until the recent pandemic and the resulting social isolation that we realised just how crucial a role pets play in people's lives.

In 2022, Dirk Vanderveken, via his research and consultancy company Shopperware, carried out the 'PET' study on behalf of Comeos. In addition to the historical data it contains, this Shopperware study also looks at the impact of today's purchasing power crisis on the buying behaviour of consumers in general, and pet owners in particular.

This session will provide you with answers to the following questions:

  • How is the pet population changing and what impact is this having on sales of the various product categories, such as food, accessories, grooming products, nutritional supplements and services?

  • To what extent does the role of pets and the relationship with pets also influence the buying behaviour and decisions of pet owners? What role does e-commerce play in global trade? We know for a fact that, during the pandemic, online sales channels grew by leaps and bounds. But will this momentum continue?

  • Consumer confidence has been severely dented by the cost of living. Now that the highest inflation peaks are behind us, what can we expect for 2024?

Are you interested in learning more about the pet food and pet care markets? This session will most certainly provide you with some valuable information and insights that will help you make the right choices.
